General FAQ

Can you guarantee results with your programs and recommendations?Back to top

Yes! As previously mentioned, 90% of the time, poor health is due to poor nutritional and lifestyle habits. To the consultants at the RxClub America, this means that by properly coaching our clients, we can expect positive results 90% of the time. Examples of health challenges where we can guarantee results without the use of medications are Type 2 diabetes, high cholesterol, and high triglycerides. We routinely help our clients control these health challenges without medication IF our clients are 100% compliant with our recommendations.

What is the best way to use your service?Back to top

We suggest that you start the process by completing the Health Survey questionnaire and stating your request. We then assign you to a qualified consultant who will schedule a telephone consultation with you. By submitting information in advance via the Health Survey, you save time and money because the consultation can go much quicker. The more information we receive in advance, the better we can prepare for the consultation.

Must I be a member to use your service?Back to top

No, however we encourage all clients to become members since membership has significant cost savings and benefits.

Why should I use your service?Back to top

Because we can usually help you improve your health and save you money in the management of your health, you should use our service. Two principles of medicine are clinical results and economics. We can help you with both.

Will your pharmacists work directly with my physician or caregivers if requested?Back to top

Absolutely! Our goal is to support you on your journey to better health. We do this through our one-on-one consultations or group sessions (where available) where we provide our recommendations and protocols tailored specifically for your needs. We always offer to work with your physicians or caregivers, especially in matters of medication use, reduction or elimination.

What can I expect from a consultation provided by one of the clinicians?Back to top

After we obtain your Health Survey information, we prepare a protocol or game plan that will best support your ability to deal with your health challenges. This will include guidance on matters pertaining to your dietary intake, hydration, nutritional supplementation, exercise, immune support, and reduction or elimination of toxic chemicals including tobacco, alcohol, refined sugar & sugar additives, caffeine, prescription and over the counter medications.

We address your specific needs and concerns by providing you the foundational knowledge for you to achieve your goals and then, we support you every step of the way with follow up consultations. If you employ our recommendations, we can guarantee you results!

What if my physician is opposed to reducing the prescribed medications?Back to top

One of our foundational beliefs is that no one but you can best decide what to do about your health or your money. If you choose to deal with your health challenges without medication whenever possible, then we support you in attempting to achieve this goal. As RxClub America pharmacists, we do not prescribe medications but we can help coach you off of them as you heal. To not do so could possibly put you in danger, therefore, if your physician is opposed to you coming off of medication which is no longer needed, we can intervene in your behalf.

As nutritionally trained pharmacists, we have expertise in these matters and work closely with physicians whenever they have concerns or doubts relative to your medication reduction or elimination. Most physicians usually cooperate with their patients in matters such as this, especially when they have professional supervision overseeing the process. Bottom line – we work for you and not your doctor. You tell us what you want to achieve and we’ll help you achieve your goals.

Why should I buy supplements from you when it seems like I could get the same thing at the health food store?Back to top

All the nutritional products or supplements and their companies have been selected after extensive research on their quality and good manufacturing practices. We primarily sell products available only through professional lines meaning that they can only be purchased through health professionals. The quality of any nutritional supplement that we recommend is CRUCIAL for you to derive any benefit from their intended use. It defies logic for you to purchase substandard products that will not support you in your healing process.

Simply put – this is money wasted, especially after you have paid for professional guidance on how to address your health challenge. Health food stores and most retail outlets such as drug stores usually only sell products which afford them the most profit margins and not necessarily those products which will help you heal. Our goal is to support you as you heal by providing proper professional guidance and the support products to do so.

Are you affiliated with any companies that sell nutritional items (vitamins) or with any drug companies that sell pharmaceuticals?Back to top

We are not affiliated with any product company either nutritional or prescription pharmaceuticals.

Health FAQ

What if I can’t reduce or eliminate all medications?Back to top

There are many factors involved in determining the nutritional response experienced by each individual. Age is certainly a determining factor. Because of these factors, some people may not be able to reduce or eliminate the use of all pharmaceuticals. For these clients, we coach on medication therapy management to optimize clinical results in addition to guidance on lifestyle and nutritional support for maximum results.

Can I use your services instead of going to a doctor?Back to top

As pharmacists and nutritionists, we are trained to make recommendations to help you deal with your health challenges in a palliative and preventative manner. With respect to prescription medication management, we neither prescribe drugs nor do we diagnose medical problems. That is the job of your physician. Once you have a “diagnosis”, we can make appropriate recommendations, both pharmaceutically and nutritionally. With respect to preventative recommendations, as nutritionists we can coach you on how to best prevent medical problems in the first place but once you have a problem, you need to see a qualified physician.

What about over the counter medications? Aren’t they all safe since they do not require a prescription?Back to top

No! Just because you can purchase them without a prescription does not render them safe and without downside risks. A prime example of this is acetaminophen or more commonly known as Tylenol. This is one of the most toxic chemicals for the liver and if used incorrectly, especially for someone with poor liver health, it can be lethal. There are numerous cases each year of acetaminophen poisoning in children as well

Are there other medications that negatively affect insulin levels or insulin control in the body?Back to top

1. Drugs that DECREASE the blood sugar lowering effects of insulin:

Diamox, Albuterol, Miacalcin, Birth control pills, corticosteroids, Danazol, Diltiazem, Diuretics, Epinephrine, Estrogens, Isoniazid, Lithium carbonate, Morphine Sulfate, Niacin, Nicotine, antidepressants, Dilantin, Thiazide diuretics, and thyroid hormones.

2. Drugs that INCREASE the blood sugar lowering effects of insulin:

ACE inhibitors (a class of blood pressure meds), alcohol, anabolic steroids (body building steroids), beta blockers, calcium channel blockers, Clofibrate, Clonidine, Prozac, Lithium carbonate, MAO inhibitors, Darvon, Salicylates, sulfa drugs, and tetracycline.

Which dangerous drugs are commonly prescribed by doctors instead of cheaper and safer medications?Back to top

The most recent fiasco is the debacle with the drug Vioxx. This drug falls into the class called Cox-2 inhibitors and the more general class of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAID). Others Cox-2 inhibitors include Celebrex, Bextra, and Aleve. All of these have taken center stage in the NSAID category because of marketing and promotional efforts by the drug companies. They are more expensive than the tried and proven ibuprofen which has worked well for years and is much more affordable. Better yet, there are some natural Cox-2 inhibitors in the form of vitamins that can easily help with inflammation and pain without the toxicities. In the case of Vioxx, the company that makes the drug knew at least two years before its recall of the inherent cardiovascular dangers but failed to warn the public or doctors. Don’t be surprised if Celebrex, Bextra, and Aleve will follow the fate of Vioxx.

I’m a woman who is concerned about hormone replacement therapy, especially with all the negative reports in the press lately. Is HRT safe and necessary?Back to top

HRT has been administered incorrectly for many years and thus the reason for the ensuing problems that have resulted. HRT is perfectly safe if done correctly with bio-identical hormone replacement (BHRT). This requires replacing hormones that are low or missing with bio-identical hormones as nature had intended. Using the incorrect combination or administering them in a continuous combined manner causes hormonal imbalances and thus the many problems that can result. Use of birth control pills is another example resulting in hormonal imbalances that cause numerous side effects and problems. If you are in peri-menopause or in menopause, seek the guidance of our expert consultants who can help you with BHRT.

I’m afraid to reduce or stop my medications for health problems that could be helped with better nutrition, diet, and exercise. Can you help me safely cut back on my prescription drugs?Back to top

Yes! As nutritionally trained, natural pharmacists, we understand how to use nutritional supplements along with coaching on dietary and lifestyle changes that will make it necessary for you decrease or eliminate some of the your medications.

90% of the time, the degenerative diseases of aging, like heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, cancer etc. are caused by poor nutrition and lifestyle habits. Only 10% are truly genetic. When someone takes medications to “treat the symptoms” of these diseases, he/she is not addressing the underlying problem. When a client makes the appropriate nutrition and lifestyle changes, we monitor their progress as healing takes place in their body and reduce their toxic medications accordingly, to avoid overmedication.

The human body is incredibly resilient and when given the proper nutritional support, it will respond beautifully, assuming there is no permanent structural or metabolic damage. Our consultants are trained to help you taper, reduce, or eliminate medication use when needed, and, if you have to stay on medications, as pharmacists, we have the knowledge, training, and skills to manage your medication profile in the least offensive manner to your body.

What is involved in the tapering off or reduction of medications?Back to top

First, you must follow the recommended dietary, nutritional, re-hydration, and exercise strategies provided by your RxClub America consultant. Once you have made these changes, we can start the process of tapering or eliminating medications. If you are 100% compliant with our recommendations, we can start reducing or eliminating medications within 10 days to 2 weeks or sooner, depending on your health challenge and on-going assessments. We work with you and your physician in this process, but remember, we work for you, so if your physician does not want to help you reach your goals, we are here to support you 100% of the way.

How do I know if I have been prescribed the right drug or best medication for my condition, rather than what some pharmaceuticals sales rep promoted to my doctor?Back to top

Unfortunately, you are at the mercy of your caregiver physician as to what he/she will prescribe. Our experience has shown that in some cases “anything goes” when it comes to the way medical doctors choose to prescribe. The reality is doctors are human too, and they are influenced by marketing and patient’s expectations. Other issues which make for poor prescribing include “off label” uses (where a product is prescribe for a condition for which it has not been approved by the FDA), the latest drug rep’s sales pitch to the doctor, the practice of leaving “free samples” for the doctor to “try” by giving to patients, and simple economics.

It’s not all the doctor’s fault though; patients must also take some of the blame. If the truth be known, physicians know their patients expect a prescription each and every office visit, after all, how else are they going to get for their money’s worth? And the doctor usually obliges, whether or not the patient really needs the medication, knowing if he doesn’t, that patient will simply go to someone else who will.

You have the right to question or even refuse to take certain drugs if you know they will either cause further harm to you or if you question their efficacy. You can only know this if you have professional guidance such as that provided by your RxClub America consultant who can guide you before your office visit.

The worst thing you can do is go to the doctor unprepared and then ask for him to prescribe a drug that was promoted by the last TV commercial you watched! You must be proactive and have professional assistance by someone who works for you!

Are some medications more harmful than others in treating the same conditions?Back to top

Absolutely! There are many medications, however, which are more harmful than others. Examples of more dangerous prescription drugs include diuretics (HCTZ, furosemide, etc.) and beta blockers (Atenolol, metoprolol, etc.) which are commonly used for blood pressure. Unfortunately, these two classes of drugs can cause or further exacerbate insulin resistance which is the underlying cause of Type 2 diabetes, high cholesterol, and hypertension to a large degree.

Your consultant at RxClub America can and will recommend appropriate strategies for dealing with your health challenges in a safe and productive manner. We strongly recommend you employ nutritional approaches before treating symptoms with toxic medications.

Can I take nutritional supplements along with my medications?Back to top

Most of the time, this is not a problem, however, there are some precautions with some supplements being taken concurrently with some medications. This is especially true of some herbal products. Also, keep in mind that as your body responds to appropriate nutritional intervention, there will generally be a lesser need for continued use of certain if not all medications, but, you need to have professional guidance in weaning off your prescription medications.

How much influence does my diet have on my drug therapy management?Back to top

Plenty! Most people do not understand the hormonal effects of food and how imbalances caused by mismanagement of their macronutrient (food) intake can have a positive or negative effect on their therapeutic outcomes. The most commonly known example would be an over-consumption of the wrong types of carbohydrates which cause a rapid rise in levels of insulin. High levels of insulin can worsen most health challenges, especially things such as diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, etc. If you are taking medications for these conditions, then your poor food choices can be counterproductive to managing your conditions. Of course, optimally, you should learn how to prevent or even treat such conditions before you compromise your health with pharmaceuticals.
